While under the car troubleshooting the EGR problem, it was noticed that the flywheel was "rattling", a common symptom prior to flywheel explosion. The Jetta TDI has a DMF "dual mass flywheel" that is known to fail. VW ordered parts from Germany.įlywheel failure. Valve body solenoid failed, followed by complete immobilization of the car. The Mechatronic chip failed on the transmission had to be replaced.Ĭhanged filter in transmission plus left side axle driver.ĭriver side driveshaft broken. The dual clutch failed on my DSG transmission. Replaced to avoid future problems with CV joint.įlywheel preceeding DSG transmission separating, needs replacement before it breaks and strands me, possibly breaking the transmission as well. 5k short of drive train warranty expiring (phew).ĬV Boot cracked, leaking grease. The initial DSG fault occurred 26NOV09 41,363 miles and recurred 6 more times until replacement. 10 yr/100,000 mile extended DSG warranty. DSG (Transmission) was replaced under the "Extended DSG Warranty 10yr/100,000mile" on 20JAN10 45,592 miles. Dealership replaced transmission & gearbox at VWofA's expense. Unable to shift gear in any drive mode, dashboard indication (P R N D S) was flashing. Some adjustments made it smoother.ĭSG Automatic Transmission was shifting gears uncommanded. Local mechanic noted that early Audi diesels had same problem. Lunges in garage when easing forward and in reverse. Transmission continued to be increasingly "jerky".
